Thomas W. Blackburn

He was born in Statesboro, Ga., was formerly a member of Bull St. Church of Christ and presently attending Central Church of Christ, was a member of the Port Wentworth Senior Citizens and retired from the Continental Can Company after 32 years of service. He served in the Civilian Conservation Camp Public Works and then joined the U.S. Air Force serving in the 25th Bomber group of the 8th Air Force as an auto equipment operator at Watton Air Force Base in Watton, England.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Doris Semph Blackburn; 5 brothers, Harry Blackburn, J.W. Blackburn, Ernest Blackburn, Edd Blackburn and Enoch Blackburn; 3 sisters, Molly Bragg, Maggie Blackburn, and Thelma Sommers.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Christine Blackburn and Maxine Blackburn and 3 sisters, Gwynette Simmons, Charity Bragg and Varietta Williams (Ray) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm Tuesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory 2794 U.S. Hwy 80 West Garden City, Ga. 31408

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Wednesday at the Funeral Home with Brother Thomas Trueb and Mr. Albert Ernest Blackburn (nephew) officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West.
