Bill rest in peace.  Thinking often for all you have done for us.

As we come up on 2 years from Bill’s passing, I remember one night Bill and I shared our favorite classical pieces of music. I played Copeland’s Appalachian Spring for him and he was so moved by that music.  During that same evening we had one of our many philosophical conversations, covering so many topics. Bill and I both agreed how incredibly fortunate our lives had been and how we weren’t afraid of passing from this earth. We were just grateful for the opportunity to live this amazing life. I know so many of his friends and family had similar moving experiences. Bill was a true renaissance man.

It's hard to believe that nearly two years have passed since we lost Bill. A good man who dedicated his efforts to the good things in life that made us all better as a community and as individuals.

I think of the generations of children whose lives Bill influenced as a teacher. Those generations who later became respectable members of society, husbands, wives and most importantly, educators.

Bill is at an eternal rest. I will soon join him. But as long as I live, I will remember the quality of the man and the immense contributions he made to our society. Bill left us in a better place than where he found us. That is the quality in Bill I shall always remember. A positive force in our daily lives. I miss Bill every day.
And I remember his family and the greater loss they must suffer daily. May he RIP.

I had Mr Resch for Earth Science at Blendon Jr High (Westerville Schools). One of the projects was to plan out how we would develop Westerville.  His lessons on putting value in our environment has followed me all these years later.  I followed what he did in developing New Albany.

Never a day goes by that I don't miss my pal, Bill or feel the pain of his loss that I know Pauline and family experience every day of the year. His kindness, goodness and contribution to society remain an everyday reminder that in Bill, we were privilege to walk with him. You are not forgotten.

The Resch Park memorial tribute was a special outpouring of the New Albany community and their respect and appreciation of what William H. Resch did to help the community grow into what it is today... a beautiful mix of nature, parks, woods, streams, and urban planning.  Thank you to all including one person who put a Resch cake at the rock!

Part 1 
It is indisputable what an amazing man our grandfather, William Herman Resch was.  Growing up only 30 minutes away from our grandparents is a blessing we will always cherish. Sleepovers at Grammy and Opa’s were always an adventure. Opa would take us on bike rides all over New Albany. He would be on his blue tricycle with bread in hand for us to feed the ducks and visit various parks. My siblings and I knew to bring “dirty clothes” to Grammy and Opa’s because we would always go down to the creek in his backyard on Harlem Road. However if we forgot, Opa would say, “that's all right” and pull out one of his big tee shirts and his big rubber boots for us to borrow. When we weren’t outside with Opa, which was rare, he would always match our child-like imaginations while spending hours playing our favorite game “Hotel Tipton” or Lincoln Logs. 

Many of you know my Opa as the “science guy.” We always had immense pride in my Opa and viewed him as a celebrity science figure that could compete with Bill Nye the science guy. In elementary school I recall my Opa coming into my class to teach my classmates and I all about rocks. All the students were drawn to him and his passion. He was extremely passionate about sharing his knowledge with others and learning from others. 

We have been fortunate to have grown up surrounded by many healthy and loving relationships. I have yet to find a greater love between two people than the love of my grandparents Pauline and William Resch. Despite the test of time, their love was youthful. Opa would pick countless wildflowers to bring home to our Grammy, spent hours making personalized cards for every special occasion the two of them shared and always referred to her as his “girlfriend.” It is the most selfless kind of love, unconditional, consistent and unfading.


    Opa was the most selfless person we knew. He put others first and would do anything for anyone that asked him for help. Opa knew what was important in life and we believe that was the greatest lesson he shared with everyone he touched. He valued love, positivity, kindness, faith, justice and passion. 

Even on the harder days, you would never have guessed that his body was causing him pain. You could hear him tell himself “I got it… I can do it” while maneuvering.  He was always smiling and laughing, never letting the pain affect his spirit. Opa taught us that we are capable of doing whatever we put our mind to. When one of us complained about doing a task or said “I can't,” he would respond by saying, “but you are a can-do man/woman.”

I was blessed to be the last to have a conversation with him before he passed. Despite the effect of aging had on his body, his mind was anything but weak. When I asked him how his day was going he said, “Well Sophie let me ask you this… How many guys my age do you know who can say they are so loved.”

Bill was a man of utmost kindness, a real friend of nature and joy to everyone who knew him. He was also extremely generous. 
It's sad to hear about his passing.

I am so honored and blessed to have had William Herman Resch as my father.  He has been a central figure of every part of my life.  We had a very close relationship and one that I will treasure forever.  I am so proud of the way he lived his life and treated people.  He was the consummate family man and role model for my sisters and I.  Godspeed dad and you have my word that we will do our best to continue to honor you and live the amazing life lessons you taught all of us!

This is "Part 1" of my post to share my father's Eulogy delivered at his funeral mass on July 9th.  I had to break it down into the following parts due to size limitations on the memorial service's platform.  The Eulogy is presented in its exact form in the posts to follow...

Lastly thank you from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support from many to my family during this difficult time.  

 

(Part 2 of my Dad's Eulogy):
                                                           Dad’s Eulogy
Good morning, we are gathered here today to honor and say goodbye to a truly special man… my dear father, William Herman Resch.  I am William John Resch or “Billy Boy” as my dad would call me.   
I have the TREMENDOUS honor of writing his Eulogy but given how close I have been with my father I am not sure I can get completely through it without breaking down or simply losing my voice due to being overcome with emotions.  Thus, I have asked my two lovely sisters… Jennifer Monte and Emily Hagin… to be up here with me and to help read it with me if need be.

My immediate family and I are still coming to grips with losing the patriarch of our family.  To say we loved my dad would be an understatement… and to say we are are going to miss him would be an even greater understatement.     
My dad was many things to many people.  It was a challenge to narrow down which parts of his exceptional life to focus on in this eulogy.  I decided to focus on three significant themes… his love of family, his love of teaching others about nature, and his zest for living life to its fullest.
Starting with his love of his family.  
My father first met my mother Pauline on an epic blind double date where they were not even the ones initially paired up… but they got that sorted out very quickly… and they have spent an amazing 54 years together.  My mother mentioned to me the other day she couldn’t remember a time she was not married to him because they were so natural together.  They were an amazing couple who exemplified love and commitment.  Dad would get so excited to give her his handmade cards that he had spent hours working on, texted her selfies professing his love, and he routinely loved to pick her flowers… including a bouquet of Black-eyed Susans on his last day with us.  Their love led to three children and four grandchildren.  


(Pt 3 of my Dad's Eulogy):
As a dedicated, loving father he led by example.  He taught his three children about life, how to treat people kindly and fairly, pushed us to reach our fullest potentials, and he was ALWAYS there for us when we needed him.  My father and I began taking “Dad and Me” adventures as we called them when I was just four years old.  These started out with his 14-foot Chris Craft boat that he had put together by hand from a kit and aptly named the “Jennifer Rose” in honor of his first born.  We would fish regional lakes, explore, talk for hours, and eventually fall asleep side by side in a small army surplus pup tent.  These evolved to grander trips and eventually took us all over the globe including most of the continental US, Alaska, Canada, the Bahamas, and even Africa.  There was no other place I would want to be than on those special trips and no better travel companion than my dad!  My greatest wish would be to take one more “Dad and Me” trip.  
Moving to his love of teaching and nature.
Some people are just born to do certain things.  My dad was born to teach.  He has inspired countless  students at Groveport Madison, Westerville North, and Plain Local Schools.  He had a passion for science, animals, the environment, energy, engineering, and of course… nature.  He was affectionately named “The Nature Guy” for a reason.  He talked fondly of each Science Department and the numerous teachers he has worked with over the years.   His crowning achievements include helping create the ”Field Studies” program in Westerville, the creation of the Environmental Program and the Easton E3 Learning Lab at New Albany from three solar buildings he somehow managed to have moved from The Ohio State University, and then helping procure the grant funding for the Rose Run Community Park that runs through the heart of New Albany and adjacent to “Resch Park” dedicated to him in 2015.  


(Pt 4 of my Dad's Eulogy): 
As per Living Life to the fullest.
Life is precious and my dad knew that.  He eked out every minute he could from his body, mind, and soul.  His body had begun to deteriorate on him in recent months.  Despite that, he was still fighting tooth and nail every single day to help his wife, family, and others.  He somehow still managed to continue fishing, planting sunflowers and wildflowers, and riding his trike to the Rose Run Park to watch kids use the nets and play in the stream.  We were actually in the process of repairing the basket on his tricycle that he would ride to the park because people often times would have to use it to push him up the inclines he could no longer pedal up… but he kept going… because that is what he was meant to do.  
In his 81 1/2 years of life, he proved time and time again how important it was to connect with people.  He was an amazing husband, brother, son, father, uncle, Opa, Papa, educator, sidekick, AND UNITER.  He was loving, kind, smart, a tirelessly hard worker, humble, honest, and quite simply the best man I will ever know.  He was my best friend, my best man in my wedding, and my ABSOLUTE HERO.  He has cemented his legacy in this lifetime.  I speak for my entire family when I say we are going to honor his legacy to the absolute best of our abilities by continuing to live our own lives to the fullest as he has shown us so clearly to do.  That would be his greatest wish.  I am also comforted by the fact that he has been saying for awhile that he “was the luckiest man” on earth for all of the blessings he has had and for the family he was so proud of and loved so dearly.  
My father is a shining example of someone who left this earth a better place.  Someone who completed his life’s mission.    
He was a man of God.  The Lord will surely greet him and say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

In closing we would like to close with a beautiful prayer that means more to all of us now than it did a week ago.  It is from Cardinal Newman.

May he support us all the day long.
Til the shades lengthen.
And the evening comes.
And the busy world is hushed.
And the fever of life is over.
And our work is done.
Then in his mercy.
May he give us safe lodging and holy rest.

Pauline and family,  jb and I always have felt special love for your family. Bill and Jb had a special friendship and had many great laughs together. Also after JB’s passing Bill continued to honor his memory by being a good supporter and friend to me.  He. Craig and I had several good lunches together just talking about our families. Pauline I am sorry you have to become a part of the widow’s group. I am going to be honest it is a lonely one, but with your faith, God, your wonderful kids ,grandchildren  and all your precious memories you can get through. God bless you. Much love Janet

One of my favorite, and one of the best teachers in WNHS history.  Bill and Irv were part of the reason I became a teacher.  I just found out today about Bill's passing.  Our family shares our love and Prayers with your whole family.

We all have so many wonderful memories of Bill!   It is hard to believe one person could make such an enormous contribution to the New Albany community.  

From the tree plantings and erratic boulders to the wetlands studies, the Natural Features Study, the Rose Run Greenway Corridor Plan and the Leisure Trail Master Plan-- his influence is all around us.  His real legacy, though,  is the enormous impact he had on the children and adults around him.   A kinder, more supportive soul cannot be found.

Bill will always be near and dear to me for championing the Junior Explorers after-school program I started and encouraging me every step of the way with knowledge and resources. The kids and I never saw him without a smile on his face and a nature story to tell! He emailed me the Rachel Carson quote early on, and upon reading it I knew he was that adult. But when he told me it reminded him of me,  it changed my life, kindling a challenge within me to get kids outside, and touching and experiencing as much as the woods, vernal pools, creeks and ponds had to offer! His commitment to the health of our natural world will never be forgotten, and many of us will do our best to continue that mission. My favorite memories are when he introduced us to the refurbished water well at Swickard Woods;  provided fish and crayfish bait buckets for catch and release at Rose Run, and loaned us his monocle on a tripod for the kids to use while waiting for everyone to arrive at summer camp. The number of lives he touched has to be a record! The protection of Rose Run and local waterways, building a LEED home, inviting others to local historical society and veterans programs...different but the same when it came to his caring.  Thank you, Bill, and I hope that our paths cross again!

Bill and Pauline are our FOREVER FRIENDS!  Bill had three mottoes which demonstrated themselves in everything he did: “The Golden Rule”, “Be Prepared” and “Knowledge is Power!”   We’ll always remember the Saturday morning tag team wrestling matches in the Resch living room and Bill’s very late Saturday night donut deliveries.  We already miss our partner in learning on his final trip around the sun!  Until we meet  again …

I  meet Bill in 1981 with his dad at their farm in new albany. I wanted to start a tree farm at that time. I didn't have land, so saw there place with animals in the field which I passed every day. Stop in one day an talk with Bill's  dad. He had Bill call me and we came up with a plan to plant pine trees in there fields. His dad came from GERMANY.  He lived in the area of the black forest, so I needed a name for my business. Bill and  I became  friends. I will miss him. I always enjoyed partnering with Bill on projects and programs. Watching him work with students was enlightening. He was an amazing educator full of enthusiasm and innovative ideas. Bill will be truly missed, but never forgotten. 

Decades ago, Bill was an assistant principal at Westerville North, and he hired me.  The following year, Bill stepped down as assistant principal because he missed the students.  He loved to give special jobs to students who didn’t have many friends.  He borrowed one of my chickens for something for his class, and kept it for a few weeks, so that one of the students could take care of it.  
Bill showed up.  When my marriage was regularized in the Catholic Church, Bill was our best man.  It was a fun day, because of the sense of humor and piety that Bill and Pauline brought to it.  When my mom broke her hip and had to stay with us, Bill and Pauline visited.  When my daughter’s illness made her drop out of school for a long, lonely year, Bill took her on a tour of coffee shops in Delaware.  He’d always say that you had to visit people, and he did.
Bill’s cars and desks were amazing to behold.  There were stacks of papers, fishing gear, monitoring equipment, and dead flies in both.  One day, he pulled up to me as I was walking home, and offered a ride.  I refused because there was something wet and creek-y on the front seat.  He seemed surprised that it was there and that it would not be something I’d sit on.  
Bill knew creeks and wetlands and fish and all macroinvertebrates.  He taught me so much about them.  I wish I could say that I taught him about the mechanics of English writing, but—no.  We’d research some developers’ pollution, we’d check laws, property lines, zoning, we’d try different ways to draft letters.  And then the final draft would come out and I’d ask if I could tidy it up a bit.  Capitalization that was neither German nor English, sentence fragments, erratic punctuation:  I’d bring it in line, and he’d be delighted.  The next letter would start the process all over.  We can easily clean up his writing, but I don’t know where we’ll get the knowledge and passion to write those hundreds of letters.  
It was an honor to know him.

Mr Resch was an absolute Angel to me. The quintessential definition of an incredible teacher and my ABSOLUTE favorite teacher. He was so dedicated as a teacher, that he gave up his lunch hour to tutor me when I was failing his Biology class late 1980’s in WNHS. I was a little trouble maker class clown but that did not deter him from doing his work and going FAR above and beyond to help a student. I will be forever grateful and you will be forever in my heart as an inspiration and role model as I have since been called to teaching… thank you Mr. Resch, Godspeed! 🥰🥰🥰🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💫💫💫 - Jim Chandler, WNHS class of 1989

I GREW UP WITH BII.WE WERE CUB SCOUTS TOGETHER WENT TO GRADE SCHOOL  AND  HIGH SCHOOL TOGETHER ,PLAYED FOOTBALL TOGETHER, GRADUATED  TOGETHER AND EVEN  WENT  INTO THE BACK OF HIS DADS BAKERY TO GET DONUTS .BILL ALWAYS HAD A GOOD WORD FOR EVERYONE. HE NEW NO STRANGERS AND HART  OF GOLD AND A SMILE FOR YOU. HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED.GOD WAITED FOR A PERSON  LIKE  BILL  TO COME HOME.

I had the privilege of working directly with Bill over the past 25 years on environmental issues in Central Ohio.  I look at Bill as a pioneer in the development of watershed protection groups in Ohio.  Over the years, I learned so much from Bill, how to be passionate yet polite and understanding,   how to be  direct, yet respectful and caring all at the same time.   

As a regulator, Bill and I worked together protecting the environment as development progressed in the Rock Fork Creek and Big Walnut watersheds.  Bill was special in the fact he went beyond telling  the development community they should implement environmental protection measures, he really convinced them it was the right thing to do.  

Bill not only taught me to be a better regulator, he taught me to be a better person.  I was so proud to call him my friend

You will be missed Bill, but your teachings will last forever.

I'm thinking about our days at St. Charles....so much FUN! I will miss you and your antics. Love you Billy!!

Bill’s passion for the environment that he shared and his advocation of an environmental program had a huge impact on my son’s life, Derek Schafer. The environmental classes at New Albany provided Derek meaning to his education. On day, Bill asked Derek to go to a zoning or city council meeting to share his own passion about the environment.  Now, Derek was pretty shy at that time, but the opportunity gave him a voice to share what was really important to him. That summer the class went to Alaska where Derek and Bill built a special bond.   Both of these opportunities: recognizing the love within Derek and the time in Alaska put Derek on a path to protecting the water and land in Cleveland as executive director of Westcreek.org to continue to share with others the passion Bill kindled in Derek.  I had the opportunity recently at the dedication on of New Albany’s amphitheater.  Bill will always be remembered. 

I have the ultimate privilege of calling Bill my Dad and he was the BEST one  ever! I was his sidekick exploring the creeks and wetlands in New Albany, the coral reefs off of Andros Island and the mountains and sounds of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.   We had the ability to have fun wherever we were. I often get referred to as a “chip off his old block” and I can’t think of a greater compliment.  He inspired me to pursue a career in environmental science and to be a defending voice for Mother Earth.  You taught me to be kind, humble, inquisitive and to never stop exploring. Everything I learned from you I am passing on to our Precious Leah Rose.  Dad I will love and miss you every day I am earth side until we are reunited once again.  Love, Your Precious Emma

Bill taught me so much more than environmental science.  He held Pauline and his family in the highest regard and love.  He always shared news about his family before we had our mentoring chats.  I love the pic below of him teaching my daughter, Kyra, about the amazing dragonfly.  I will miss Bill tremendously as he was like a Father figure to me.  I met him 21 years ago, the year my Father died.  I have been thanking God this week for allowing me to share so many fond memories with Bill.  I hope it is ok that I visit you Pauline💚

I have admired Bill Resch since I started teaching in New Albany in 2004. His energy, his passion, his laugh, his confidence, and his joy made everyone around him happier. I knew immediately that I wanted to be like Bill Resch when I grow up. It will take the rest of a lifetime, but I will keep trying to be like Bill. He called me frequently to find out what was happening at school, at his precious E3 Building, in Rose Run Park, and in Swickard Woods. He worked up until the very end preserving the natural world around him. He had a lot of fun too. This picture is from Bill's backyard. My son Luke (middle) and his friend David and I spent two hours cleaning algae and cattails out of Bill's pond. Bill sat on the side and laughed at the boys as they slopped around in the muck. It was a great day and a good memory of a life well lived. 

I had the honor of having Bill as a friend for a short 20 years. Bill was the walking encyclopedia of New Albany’s history, especially as it pertained to land conservation and the protection of New Albany’s natural environment from runaway development. He got me involved in the Parks and Trails Advisory Board, tree plantings and advising for gardens. Really, who could say no to Bill? I called him “Columbo”. I loved learning from him and watching him in action. He followed facts, revealed what others did not see, he knew many answers before asking questions, he made some people nervous when he showed up for a meeting, he always had his visuals available and his entrance (a bit late sometimes) carrying loads of tripods, charts and handouts. Outside in the parking lot was his still wet kayak on top of the car. He was the master at planning, teaching and never taking credit while working behind the scenes, on a regular basis. Heartbroken that he is gone…Bill, I still have so many questions. We will all step up and continue to fight for what is right for the greater good and all you taught us!  Thank you, Pauline for sharing Bill with all of us. He loved you and his family so much. Missing you, my friend.

I remember helping him as a teachers assistant I graded papers and did nine week grades to help because of him always on the go. He was a great friend who I will miss as will his family.

I’ve never known anyone to enjoy playing tambourine as much as Bill did!

SO many times as we planned history days at the Primary or Intermediate Schools, Bill would be such an integral part of it ...conveying to the enraptured students the intrigue of the area's environment, both current and historical. His enthusiasm was infectious, his heart readily apparent in his smile and ready humor, his joy in sharing contagious--all making learning come alive. Bill was and ever will be a revered and adored icon....and cherished friend.

I have so many crazy memories. I was the first women to join the science department even though I was health and physical education. Bill stold all of John Justices furniture to welcome me. Lol. John was at that time the assistant principal. I actually moved into the locker room so John got his furniture back. John cut Bills tie to retaliate and Bill out a frozen fish in John’s office over the weekend so it would defrost over the weekend lol. It was a never ending challenge between both of them. The science and music department had a band. We actually were pretty awesome. Bill was our tambourine guy and was good at it. My favorite memory was his laugh and smile. Such a really intelligent person with an awesome personality. When I look at his smiling pictures that was him. Prayers and hugs to everyone he touched.  

A delightful man who brought great enlightenment to the community and sustainable protection and conservation to our environment. A wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather and educator extraordinaire. Most importantly, a dear friend that I will miss every day of my life remaining.  A smile, a laugh, a willingness to always serve will be one of his many hallmarks. Rest well my friend. You did good.

Bill was one of my personal heroes, a role model, and also one of my favorite characters (and what a character he was!). When I spoke of him to others who didn’t know him, I described him as a cross between Yoda and the Energizer Bunny - oh so wise and always charged up. He was one of my biggest supporters and I credit him with the early and continued success of my wife’s and my business, MAD Scientist & Associates. We had the great privilege of working with him and New Albany/Plain Local Schools to re-design a former storm detention basin into a functional wetland at the school’s land lab (the photo shows him and a student helping to deliver trees for planting the perimeter of this site). He spoke proudly of this project and we and our staff were honored to have been part of it. Like so many in our community, we will be forever in his debt. Condolences to his family and friends. It’s a loss for all of us! But I’m sure Bill doesn’t want us wallowing in sadness, he wants us to carry his spirit with us and, as best we’re able, to carry on his good work. He left us a good road map. Rest In Peace, Bill, and thank you for being your authentic self!

Bill was my HS biology teacher at Westerville North back in the late 70's. He, and the other science teachers then, set me on the path to become a science teacher myself.  Bill and I ended up working together for New Albany Schools. He referred to himself as the Nature Guy and he declared me the Nature Lady. I didn’t have a choice in that. We worked side by side in the nature preserve, creating programs to help connect students to nature. When Bill, through determination and visionary efforts, brought what became the Easton E3 Learning Lab to New Albany, we worked together to create programming that we hoped would change the lives of students and teachers K-12. My memories of Bill through the last 40 years could make a book. I watched him scheme, plan, and organize events that would end up preserving land, creating parks, litigating wetlands, saving heron rookeries and stopping a road through our precious Swickard Woods. He was deeply motivated to do what was right and what would best serve the people of our town. His favorite time to email me was 2am as he worked away on the latest project. Bill’s office was in his house…and on his back porch, the E3, Swickard Woods, Rose Run and Resch Park. His legacy projects are numerous so I will not name them all here but the truth is that his greatest legacy is his family. He lectured me often about putting family first. His love for Pauline was unmatched. His pride in his children and grandchildren went deep. I heard ALL about them, ALL the time. He is one of the most giving, caring human beings I’ve ever met. He was one of my best friends. So very grateful and honored to know him and share so many memories together. If we are to honor his legacy, then we each need to do our part. Love each other. Be kind. Treat the Earth with respect and preserve it for our grandchildren. Then when you see Bill again, you’ll be able to look him in the eye, hear that hearty laugh and share once more in that great bear hug. Love you, Bill.

Thinking about Bill Resch makes me think of a warm summer afternoon last year when Pauline, myself and Deb had lunch in their lovely home. Bill was out in the back yard by the pond & from my understanding that's where he loved to be and what a place of tranquility! I mosied on over to where he was & he proudly took me to his (he shed) and showed me a trophy that he proudly displayed.  He said if you can catch Walter you can get your name here on this trophy.  I was up for the challenge as I love to fish & once caught a Barracuda in Jamaica after 45 mins of struggling. I thought this can't be that difficult. I tried & tried to catch that fish but I guess he was alot smarter than me.  I had a great time with Bill & he didn't make me bait any of the hundred hooks after Walter.  (Of course I'm exaggerating just a little)
 I enjoyed working with Pauline. She always spoke of Bill, Jennifer, Billy, Emily & their Grandchildren with a twinkle in her eyes.  You all have made them proud Parents & Grandparents!
So to all of you I am sending my sympathy and prayers. 
May peace & serenity be with all of you today & years to come.
God speed Bill! I know there is a special place in Heaven for you.

Bill was my science teacher at Westerville North and later a client at New Albany schools. 
Bill was such an amazing man and will be sincerely missed. 
RIP my friend. 

I remember the very first time I met Bill he asked me who I was and what did I do for the school and I said I am a custodian and I just started this was back in 2004 and Mr. Bill said welcome aboard if thier is anything I need let him know he was a great guy I remember I had just got done cleaning gretta  Manning's. Room he comes up and asks me if he could get in the room I said sure not realizing that he had been in the mud and I went on to clean and I come out of conveys room and my mop bucket was gone so I went looking for it and Bill had it mopping his mess up and I said if you would have told me I would have came back and mopped it. My prayers go out to his family





You are the reason i choose to be a science teacher. From the first day in your Bio class to having the honor of being one of your last student teachers.  We closed the loop when i taught your daughter.  You will continue to inspire me when the wind blows or a bird chirps and when the water ripples over a riffle zone.  You are the wind beneath my teacher wings. Your legacy is set in the glacial erratics of New Albany and will always be there to inspire our future conservationists.

I am so very to hear of Bill’s passing. I was privileged to have him as a Science teacher, twice, at Westerville North HS. He was a wonderful teacher and made learning fun! He will be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Mr. Resch was my favorite teachers Westerville North Hugh School. He encouraged me to continue my education after high school. I went on to become of teacher in New Albany. His daughter, Emily, was one of my favorite students.  He was always available to take my students on a nature adventure. He forever changed my life! 

Without Billy , Plain Township and New Albany would have turned out to be disaster. Bill knew how to bring everyone together, make a plan, and he  made sure all came out on the plus side. Saw Bill at my cousin Pat's funeral a while back and was amazed how much he had not changed since we were kids. He was Pat's best friend. Now he gets to join him . God speed Billy, and God bless all your family members. I will see you on the other side soon. Jim 

Bill was a consummate educator. He changed countless lives and his students, colleagues, academic grandchildren, great grandchildren and beyond have carried on his legacy to make this world a better place. Thank you, Bill, for touching so many lives; thank you for selflessly sharing your humanity; thank you for your positivity and humor. 
We are aggregated stardust that is provided a brief time on this planet as humans to allow the universe to realize itself. Most importantly we share the most divine gift of love. Oh yeah, and thanks for helping me understand that wilderness is the antidote to technology.
