William (Bill) C. Hannan, age 77 of Louisville, Ohio passed away on December 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 9, 1947 in Canton, Ohio to the late Carl and Thelma Hannan. Bill graduated from Louisville High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army as a military intelligence analyst, including a tour in Vietnam. Upon his return, he worked at the Hoover Company in North Canton, where he met Carol, the love of his life and wife of 42 years. Bill went on to serve as an Ohio State Highway Patrolman, where he worked for nearly 30 years, retiring from the Massillon post as a Staff Lieutenant. He rarely took a day off work and was always voted as one of the friendliest Troopers. Bill was lighthearted and the life of the party. He loved joking with people and handing out “gigs” for those everyday mistakes. When he wasn’t watching the Yankees in his garage, he loved golfing, playing euchre and visiting with friends at one of his usual stops around town. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Bill was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather and a loyal friend. Though his life was filled with service, his most selfless act was caring for his wife Carol as she battled dementia. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol; brother Larry Hannan and sister Nancy Wacker. He is survived by his loving family: sons, William Jr. (Sally) Hannan, Daniel (Sakura) Hannan; daughter Cari (David) Kass; brother Jon Hannan; grandchildren, Leo and Carson Kass, and Caroline, Billy and Elliot Hannan; and a large extended family and many friends.
Please join his family for a Celebration of Life on Monday, December 30th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Louisville, Ohio. Address: 925 W. St. Louis Ct. Louisville, OH 44641. A military funeral and inurnment will be scheduled at a later date.
