William Smith “Smitty” Brown, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 74 in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family. William was born on October 4, 1950, in Louisa, Kentucky, to Mary Lee and Robert C. Brown, who precede him in death.
William’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family, friends, his work ethic, and his passions. After dedicating over 30 years of his life to Diamond Innovations (GE), where he met most of his lifelong friends, he retired with pride, having built a successful career that showcased his commitment and expertise. William spent his life dedicated to his wife, children, family, and friends while enjoying his passions of classic cars, the stock market, movies, music, and his love for his dogs. His compassion, generosity, and dedication that he showed to those he loved is abundantly evident by the deepest sadness and heartbreak of all those who loved him and will miss him every day of their lives. He was a best friend to his sons and daughter, his wisdom, strength, and love were a source of comfort to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was witty and kind and a good friend to all he knew.
William is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Brown, with whom he shared 40 years of his life. He leaves behind a rich legacy through his children: Robert Brown, Lena Newman and her husband Matthew, Craig Brown and his wife Mandy, and Jim Bolton (Angie Mueller). His grandchildren: Ashley Salsbuery (Tyler), Cierra Carte (Seth), Corrie Phillips (Chase), Carter Brown, Jessica Gathers, James Bolton (Olivia), and Lance Bolton.
As a great-grandfather, he cherished the moments spent with his beloved great-grandchildren: Miley, Kennedy, Kinsley, Parker, Grayson, Hunter, Ledger, Corbin, Teagan, and Knox, who will carry his memory forward in their hearts.
He is also survived by his sister, Bobbie Hiserote, and his nieces who he loved as his own, Kim Williams (Rob), Nicole Hiserote, and great nephew Benjamin Breslin (Mikaela). As well as many cousins, other family members, his beloved dogs Nucky and Henry, and friends.
A funeral service to honor William’s life will be held on April 11, 2025, from 4PM to 7PM at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Gahanna, Ohio. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating his life.
William Smith Brown leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
