Tribute to Trudy by Tia Factor (Daughter), read during the Funeral Service.

"God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best."

My Mom. She was my best friend, my kids’ mama. She was my rock, my support system, my shopping buddy, my hero, my protector, my life, my everything. She was the glue that held our family together, the center of our lives and our hearts.
She was the most selfless person I have ever known. Everyone’s needs and wants always came before her own. She was such a beautiful person inside and out.
She truly was the best mom in the whole world. She taught me everything I know, from learning to cook, how to properly make a bed, how to fold a towel, and everything inbetween. Most importantly, she taught me about God. We went to church every Sunday growing up. I remember her singing in the choir and helping us kids with crafts during church summer camps. More recently, we would go to paint nights together and enjoyed each other’s company. 

If only we had more time together here on Earth…

You were gone so quickly. I thought we would grow old together. I’ve thought about how I would take care of you, like you’d always taken care of me.

You fought a hard battle. You were so strong. It saddened me so much to watch you struggle. The worst part was not being able to be with you. You must have felt so lonely, and I felt so helpless. It broke my heart to imagine how you must have felt. It broke my heart that I could not hug you, hold your hand, kiss you or comfort you. You did not deserve any of this.

I’m going to miss you so much, I already do. I’m not sure how I’m going to live without you, mom. My heart is broken. The day you left, a piece of my heart went with you. I feel empty, lost, sad, angry, and shattered. All I can hope for is that I can be half the mom that you were to me. I will always proudly speak your name. You will never be forgotten.

Rest easy mom, until we meet again one day in heaven. Please hold my son, Miles, extra tight and kiss him bunches. Tell grandma and grandpa and aunt Carol I miss them so much. Hug and kiss them too for me. 
Mom, I love you a bushel and a peck. Always and forever, your one and only daughter.

Tribute to Trudy by Cody Factor (Grandson), read during the Funeral Service.

First I want to thank you all for being here, I don’t think any of us expected this to happen so soon. But my grandma would be very happy that everyone she loves and cared about are here for her.

As most of you know I was my grandmas firstborn grandson, aka her favorite. So I feel like she would want me to speak today.

It’s hard to sum up a person with so much value and meaning in such few minutes, especially my grandma. My grandma was kind at heart, she was loving and not shy to spread her kindness. If you new her, she loved her crime shows and was one of the best designers inside and outside of our home. My grandma strived in being selfless even in her final days. For example, a couple of weeks ago while she was in the hospital, she FaceTimed my phone. Which is a miracle in itself because I had to teach her how to use her electronics. But when I answered the FaceTime she only cared about how I was doing and how the rest of our family was doing. My grandma is one of the most beautiful lady’s inside and out. And someone I am honored to have been in my life. My grandma had a lot of friends, many who are here right now. And seeing how many friendships she really had  is truly unbelievable. I want you all to know that she loved each of you as her own family.

Both of My grandparents and I have always made great memories together, but one recent memory stood out the most to me.
Just less than a month ago all three of us went to dinner together, specifically Waffle House, and we were the only ones there. We joked around and had good conversation about the old times we all shared together and that day I realized that Family and God is all you truly have in this world.

In the last few moments I could speak with my grandma, we talked about God. My grandma was faithful to the lord, and contributed in teaching me of him. It brings me peace and joy that she is with Jesus right now, and knowing that the unseen is eternal shall bring you and I peace for the seen is only temporary. My grandma would encourage me to share God with more and more people, so today I would like to inspire any of those who would call themselves non-believers to seek Gods word, and know that God loves each and everyone of you.

Today we say goodbye to a great spirit, one who I was privileged to call “mama”. And she will continue to live in our hearts forever. Thank you.

Tribute to Trudy by Jon Miller (Husband), read during the Funeral Service.

Thank you for joining us today in paying our final respects to the love of my life, Trudy Jean. She was a truly beautiful soul, inside & out, but if you knew her, you didn’t have to be told that, you just knew. My message today is short and sweet, just like Trudy was.
I was privileged to be her husband for over 28 wonderful years. Every year on our anniversary Trudy would ask me do you know what day this is. I would say of course I do. After all, I’d always send her red roses a day or two early so she could begin enjoying them. She’d say, I mean do you know what the number is? How many years have we been married? I would always give her a number that was slightly higher than the actual number. Like on our 25th anniversary, I’d say 27.  Trudy would correct me and say no it’s this. She would ask why do you keep adding numbers to it. And I would always say, I know, I just wish we were married longer. She would tell me to be patient and bide our time and we’ll get there some day.  I always thought we’d have more time. I thought we would have at least 10 more good years to be together. 
Tia, Travis, Cody and I, witnessed a 3 week ordeal and watched our beloved Trudy slip away. We all knew Trudy would not be able to spend Christmas at home with her family this year. We just wanted her to come back home someday, we didn’t care how long it took for her to get well, we just wanted to see her come through our door and be home with her family once more.
And then there’s this thing called Truth. Truth is real, it’s good, it’s honest, it’s sobering, and sometimes it cuts like a knife. Now I must come to grips with that horrible truth. Trudy and I had run out of our time together here on earth.  
And I know someday our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will come for me. I know I will be with Him, and I pray that Trudy and I will once again be together. I will always cherish the time that we did have together, I just always wanted more, and I thought we’d always have more time. It’s hard to realize we’ve run out of time.

Beautiful and precious Trudy - we were friends for 51 years.  So many laughs and a few tears.  We will always be the "Thelma and Louise" girls!  Love and miss you!   :broken_heart:

i met the Howdeyshell Family in1970 through Trudy's older sister Carol who became my BFF for over 40 years. Carol, Trudy, and Linda always included me in family gatherings and I spent a lot of time in their homes. We were always close and their Mom actually called me the 4th sister!  Trudy's obituary said it all. Her home was beautiful and she always made you feel welcome. She just had a knack for decorating, cooking and entertaining. We had many good times together.    ( I'm still here for you Linda.)

My heart goes out to Jon, Linda, Travis and Tia and their families.  Even though I cannot attend the service because of health issues, I will be thinking of everyone and how lucky we all were to have Trudy in our lives.

Aww Trudy RIP, you will be so dearly missed!  So sorry we never got to all the items in our bucket list!  However, as we know time waits for no one!  We were always going to have time to do it, next week!  Never a better friend or confidante, I will truly miss the times we spent together and everything we discussed over a glass of wine!  We solved a lot of world problems with that glass of wine, not to mention personal and family ones too.

I will truly miss you friend!
