Tom was an extraordinarily devoted and loving father to Tracy. Always putting her first and foremost in his life, their bond is eternal. His love for Todd surpassed that of an “In-Law” - Todd was like his son. He loved his granddaughters Ashleigh and Amanda immensely and was so incredibly proud of their achievements. Tom considered his greatest accomplishment to be his family.
Tom served Four Years in the United States Air Force refueling planes, stationed in Africa and Peru, Indiana. After leaving the Air Force, Tom made a career of driving semis and happily retired from the Teamsters in 1999, saying “If I never see the inside of a truck again, it will be too soon.”
Upon his retirement, Tom enjoyed traveling the country in his motorhome, most memorably a wonderful 2 week trip out West with his family. During his 24 years retired, Tom spent his summers in Ohio at Treehaven Campground amongst friends and spent his winters in Lake Wales Florida.
Tom enjoyed nothing more than to “Supervise” projects, whether at Tracy’s house, Treehaven or in his Lake Wales community. He was always out and about on his golf cart to see if anything interesting was happening. Nothing made his day more enjoyable than to sit and watch any type of project being done. He loved to offer advice, tease, joke and just be a part of it. As many people can attest, he always started his commentary with, “If I was doing this…”
Tom is survived by his daughter Tracy Muth (Pope); son-in-law, Todd Muth; granddaughters Amanda Muth and Ashleigh Spurlock (Seth); great-grandchildren Ellis and Tillie; brother, Richard Pope (Cynthia); and nieces Sarah, Rachel, and Rebakah, along with great nieces and nephews.
Tom was proceeded in death by his parents, Jacquelin and Ralph Pope.
Tom was a wonderful, loving and generous man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring/Summer of 2025 at Treehaven Campground.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests an act of kindness be performed in Tom’s memory.
Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.
