The Reverend Deacon Sherman Bradley Everett, “Sherm” to most, passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, after a long illness. He was born in Portland, Oregon on October 2nd, 1936, to parents Sherman and Beatrice (Threadgold) Everett. He graduated with a BS from the University of Oregon in 1958, then continued his education at The Ohio State University where he received his MBA in 1986.
Throughout his life, Sherm enjoyed a long and varied career that included being a radiology tech, factory manager, working at a beer brewery and a pharmaceutical company, and being a consultant all before becoming an Ordained Deacon in the Episcopal church. In his capacity as a Deacon, Sherm worked as a Chaplain at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for many years before becoming a Clinical Chaplain at the James Cancer Hospital Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Unit and The Ohio State University Hospital Burn Unit. He was a marathon runner, golfer, tennis player, crew member of an ocean sailboat, and youth soccer coach. He was also an avid fly fisherman, photographer, and world traveler. Sherm would often go on retreat to St. Gregory’s Abbey where he could find solace in nature, prayer, and the company of the monks. He took great pride in his sons and grandchildren, often sharing stories of their activities and accomplishments.
Sherm was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Beatrice Everett, sister MaryAnne Everett, and granddaughter Sarah Everett.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Bonnie Everett; children, Sherman & Carolyn Everett of Houston, Texas, and Gregg & Missy Everett of Hilliard, Ohio; grandchildren Kelly, Hannah, Annie, Connor, and Aidan; siblings Shirley (Webb) Cate, and Rich Everett; other family members Amy & John Wild of Harrisonburg, VA, Zachary Barnitz of Columbus, Ohio, Lisa & Paul Bentivegna and their children Nathan, Julianna, and Oliver, of Gahanna, Ohio, and Joan Everett of Columbus, Ohio. He will also be greatly missed by his sweet cat, Sophie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 2pm-5pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 10am at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5101 Johnstown Rd., New Albany. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sherm’s name (Brother Simon) may be made to St. Gregory’s Abbey, 56500 Abbey Rd., Three Rivers, MI, 49093-9595.
