She is survived by her husband Douglas Bricker, and their four children Derek, Sisi, Alejandra, Beau, and her nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her four siblings, James Barry, Amelia Ann, Candace, and Jonathan Scott.
Sandra was a fiercely devoted mother of two biological children, one adopted child, and one foster child.
Sandra had so much love for her family and all her children were proud to call her mom.
Sandra was a rare person with a thirst for knowledge and the drive to match; that drive led her to achieve the highest levels of education, including: Transylvania University - Undergraduate studies, The Ohio State University - Masters in Medical Education, The Ohio State University - Masters in English, The Ohio State University - Ph.D. in Medical Education, Methesco - Masters of Divinity, United Theological Seminary - Doctorate of Divinity.
Sandra served at many institutions as an executive director, pastor, and minister throughout her career, but started as a physician's assistant for a doctor at the Veterans Administration hospital in Lexington Kentucky where she met her future husband, Doug.
Early in her working career, Sandra led multiple projects at the Ohio Board of Regents and The Ohio State University. In her second career as an ordained minister with The United Church of Christ, Sandra served at many Ohio churches where she delivered beautifully crafted and peaceful services for her parishioners. Sandra also served as Youth Minister at Lakeside as well as Director of Campus Ministries at the United Christian Center and concluded her professional career as a Chaplin at Friendship Village retirement community where she assisted individuals with their spiritual healing and brought joy to all that lived in that community.
One of her greatest achievements was being named Director for the World Congress on the Family with the United Nations, where she traveled all over the world living her dream of teaching and helping people from all walks of life.
Sandra had a deep love for learning, traveling, theater, and gardening and was so proud to be an American. The 4th of July was her favorite holiday. She would gather the whole family at her cabin in Lakeside, Ohio while she organized and executed our celebration flawlessly. The celebration would crescendo with the whole family marching in the Lakeside 4th of July parade followed by fireworks on the green blanket by the lake.
Sandra was a light in so many people's lives and not just her family's. She was the kindest and most thoughtful person you could ever meet or get to know, and if you ever found her touching your life in some way you were left a better happier person just to have spent some time with her.
Family will be receiving friends on Saturday November 12th, 12:00pm-2:00pm at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast 1051 E Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio, 43230. A funeral service will immediately follow.
