Richard (Ric) D. Ballinger, born on March 11, 1954, and beloved by many, passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born in Findlay, Ohio, but lived in Columbus, Ohio for most of his life. Ric is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Betty Ballinger, and brother, Keith Alan Ballinger. He is survived by his wife Debbie (Riley) Ballinger and four children, Kristin Ballinger, Todd (Valerie) Ballinger, Sam (Mandy) Ballinger and Kyle (Angie) Ballinger, and his six cherished grandchildren: Cadence, 17; Maxwell, 15; Elle, 9; Hayley, 9; Rayleigh, 8; and Glenn, 7. Ric is also survived by his sister, Sheila (Jim) Rumora, as well as his brothers-in-law Mike (Anne) Riley, Pat (Judy) Riley, and sisters-in-law, Marybeth (Joe) Jackson and Danuta Ballinger, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Family meant the world to Ric. He always prioritized them, setting aside whatever he was doing to share a conversation with a loved one, whether family, friend, or neighbor. He cherished family vacations, whether they were spent at the beach, in a cabin, or exploring the mountains—wherever the journey took them. Ric found joy in listening to live local music, playing pickleball, fishing, and embracing the great outdoors. He was passionate about his profession where he worked in the paint industry for 50 years in many different capacities. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 23, 2025, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. A Celebration of Ric’s life will take place on Monday at 11:00 am at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, followed by a service at the Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made to support the Melanoma Cancer Research Fund at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Visitation for Ric will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. Ric's funeral service will take place at the funeral home the following morning, Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center, Ohio.
