Ray was 79 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY at The Brooklyn Navy Hospital. Ray then moved to Churchtown, NY where he grew up with his mother, Lena Drum, father Ray F. Drum, and sister Valerie Lawton. Later, he moved to New Jersey where he met his loving wife Sharon (Moore). They were married for 54 years.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and Sharon had four children: son Ray Jr., daughters Lisa Chakot (Drum) married to Mike Chakot of New York, Julie Ryon (Drum) of Ohio married to Dave Ryon of Ohio, and Lori Camacho (Drum) married to Alexander Camacho of Florida. He was grandfather to four grandchildren, Sophie Graziano (Filli) married to Alan Graziano of New York, Teddy Filli of New York, Kaylee Rose Ryon of Ohio, and Joanne Regina Ryon of Ohio. Ray also had three great-grandchildren Wyatt Timothy Malchow, Leo Alexander Malchow, and Atlas Michael Malchow of New York
Ray was a devout Catholic and a founding member of the Church of the Resurrection. He spent his time as a lector, EOM, usher, and Eucharistic Minister. Along with, the Ministers of Holy Community to the Sick and Homebound, and a member of the Young at Heart. He was a First Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council 10941. Ray was also involved in Cub Scouts for many years.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 3rd, from 10AM-11AM at the Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E Dublin Granville Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM, followed by an interment at Maplewood Cemetery.
