Patrick "Pat" Devitt

Patrick Lee Devitt, age 76 of Gahanna, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 14, 2024. He was born April 30, 1948 in Gary, Indiana. He was the first-born son to the late Ross and Mary Lou (Sargent) Devitt. In addition to his parents, Pat is preceded in passing by brothers Carey (CJ) and Kevin Devitt.

Pat went to Calumet High School after which he enlisted in the United States Army. He served honorably in the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. He was a Maintenance Supervisor at IMS. Upon retirement he and Hazel moved to Ohio to be close to their family.

Pat enjoyed riding his Goldwing with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association of Northwest Indiana. He was an avid golfer and ranger (some might say heckler) at Gahanna Municipal Golf course.

Pat is survived by his wife of 54 years Hazel, daughter Amy (Kellen) and granddaughters Zoey and Abby. As well as his sister Linda (Frank) Glinis, and brothers Timothy (Diane), and Thomas (Vicky) Devitt.

Memorial contributions in Pat’s honor may be made to the family for his granddaughter’s special needs trust.

A Celebration of Life is being planned and will take place in Northwest Indiana at a time that will be announced later.
