Mason W Murphy

Mason Murphy passed away on October 14th. 2022 aged 7,721 days old, at home surrounded by family after a brave battle with cancer. Mason was born on August 24th, 2001 in Morristown, NJ to Timothy and Kristie Murphy. Growing up Mason enjoyed drawing, video games, playing soccer, and spending time with friends and family. In 2011 he moved to Blacklick, OH where he would enjoy riding bikes with his sister and meet many wonderful neighbors and great friends.

In high school he was a proud member of the Gahanna Lincoln High School marching band. He played both the clarinet and bass clarinet, eventually earning first chair in the Gold Band. In 2018 Mason inherited his father's 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger and it would become a hobby where he would spend many nights working. This hobby would also be where he met many great friends. After graduating high school in May of 2020 Mason set his sights on the Army. He spent most of the next year preparing for enlistment before shipping off to basic training in March of 2021. Unfortunately his Army goals were cut short due to the discovery of Rhabdomyosarcoma during his first weeks of basic training. During his treatment at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH Mason brought many laughs to the incredible staff taking care of him. He would still enjoy sunset cruises with friends and movies with family while fighting cancer.

Mason was preceded in death by his father Timothy Murphy, grandma Janet Murphy, grandpa Bob Taylor and is survived by his mother Kristie Murphy, sister, Kristen Caponi, brother-in-law Cj Caponi, grandmothers Helene Palmieri and Ginger Taylor, aunts Patty (Bill) Myers and Kathleen Murphy, uncles Dan (Peg) Murphy and Michael (Sande) Murphy, his dog Sindy and cat Mr. Bojangles, and many cousins and close friends.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday October 20, 2022 from 4:30-5:30pm followed by a memorial service at 5:30pm at Discovery Church, 750 Cross Pointe Rd suite l, Gahanna, OH 43230 a reception will take place immediately after.
