Mary Anne Schwanke

Mary Anne Schwanke, age 86, of Westerville, OH (formerly of Charlotte, NC and Colorado Springs, CO), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022. She was born in Fairbury, Nebraska, on November 19th, 1935, to Emil and Mary (Nejdl) Burda.

Growing up on a farm, Mary Anne learned to work hard and instilled that value in her children. Mary Anne received numerous awards and honors in school and college, including The American Legion School Award. She was a retired teacher and enjoyed seeing her grandchildren. In her spare time, she liked to travel, play trivia, and go to bridge club.

Left to cherish Mary Anne’s memory are her son, Jon (Stacy) Schwanke; daughter, Anne (Randy) Blaha; brothers, Robert (Berta) Burda, Melvin (Paula) Burda, and David (Carol) Burda; grandchildren, Timothy Schwanke (Hannah), Samantha Schwanke, Brittney Schwanke, Bradley Blaha, and Sam Blaha; and great-grandchild, Olivia Schwanke.

Mary Anne is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Schwanke, and her parents, Emil and Mary Burda.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 7th at 11:00 AM at Maplewood Cemetery, 4585 Reynoldsburg-New Albany Rd, New Albany, OH, 43054.
