She was retired from the Columbus Dispatch, where she worked for over 30 years in advertising customer service. She loved her job and was a favorite of all the advertising customers and salespeople. Mary was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church New Albany for many years where she volunteered in the office and made many special friends.
Mary loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the one everyone in her family and extended family looked to for unconditional love, which they always received. She loved gardening, where she enjoyed creating a beautiful yard filled with an abundance of flowers.
Mary is survived by her children, Mark Corson, Anne (Matt) Sander, Craig (Mame) Corson, and daughter-in-law Debi Corson. She is also survived by her grandchildren Melissa (Tom) Harmon, Steven Corson, Travis Corson, Summer Corson, Bentley Corson, and Elizabeth (Toby) Mai, along with great-grandchildren Emily Harmon, Nora Harmon, and Saylor Corson. Mary is also survived by her brother, Al (Ginger) Layton, sister Laura Van Walsen, sister-in-law Dolores Layton, and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Harry B Corson, Jr, her parents Frank and Mary Layton, and brothers Edward Layton and James Layton.
Friends may gather at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast Chapel in Gahanna on Saturday, May 4 from 11AM-2PM. Funeral Service will take place directly following at 2PM. There will be a private family burial at Mt Sterling Cemetery in Zanesville.
The family would like to thank Dr Robert Zaino, the staff and nurses at StoryPoint Gahanna, and Transitions Hospice for their loving care of Mary.
