Martin Franklin White

Martin Franklin White, most commonly known as Marty, of Gahanna passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at home while surrounded by his loving family. Marty was born in Columbus on December 27, 1958, to Martin Franklin White and Donna Jean (Peyton) Pollock. He attended Gahanna schools and lived in Gahanna the majority of his life. He took pride in making Gahanna beautiful in his role in the Parks and Recreation Department. He has been involved in multiple community sports organizations and had a passion for coaching. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

Marty will be remembered for his love of fishing, but most importantly, his love of family. He was affectionately known as Papaw to his five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He married his beloved wife Susan on December 1st, 1979 and together they had two children, Candace and Frank.

Marty was preceded in death by his father, Martin White and his parents-in-law, William and Virginia Hays.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Susan; children Candace (Jon) Rogers, Martin Franklin White III “Frank” (Shylo) White, and grandchildren Browyn White, Rheyla White, Rosie White, Clark Rogers and Karra Rogers. He is survived by his mother Donna Pollock; brothers Mitch (Paula) White, Chris (Pam) Pollock and Wayne (Regina) White; sister-in-law Jennifer (Thomas) Bindi.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 4-7pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A graveside committal service will take place at 11am on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Mifflin Cemetery, 218 Agler Rd., Gahanna. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marty’s honor may be made to the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Foundation at https://gahannaprf.org.
