Martin A. Graff Jr., age 85, passed away April 3, 2023. Marty was born on April 28, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Elizabeth Graff. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons Martin Scott (Beth) and Matthew Steven (Sarah) along with his 5 grandchildren Elizabeth, Owen Martin, Catherine, Clare and Martin Scott Jr.
Marty grew up in Pittsburgh, PA as a lifelong fan of all things black and yellow. He attended Crafton High School and upon graduation, joined the U.S. Army where he honorably served for several years. After leaving the military he attended Duquesne University. He met Kathie in 1964 during a holiday at Seven Springs Ski Resort. They were married on April 22, 1967, and would have celebrated their 56th anniversary this year.
Marty began his professional career with the Homebuilders Association in Pittsburgh. He and Kathie relocated to Akron, OH in 1970 where he worked as the Executive Director of the Akron Area Board of Realtors. The family moved to Westerville, OH in 1981 and Marty began his career at the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio as the Executive Director. He retired from the BIA in 1998 after 17 years of service.
The family wishes to thank Capital City Hospice and the nurses and staff of The Avalon of New Albany for the exceptional care they provided to Marty and the continuous love and support they offered to Kathie over the last several years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 1pm-3pm at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230 with his Funeral Mass to begin at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in his name to The Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
