Larry A Betts, Age 86, of Gahanna Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, with his family by his side after complications from an infection. Born in Malta, Ohio on July 27, 1937, son of Eugene & Doris (Payne), He lived most of his life in Columbus & Worthington, Ohio.
Survived by his son Larry, daughter Pamela (Vince) Oddi, daughter Robin Milonakis, lifetime friend and former wife Hester Betts, brother Mike (Gail) Betts, sister-in-law Donna Betts, sister-in-law Mary Betts, grandchildren Michael Wesley, Josh Oddi, Hadley Betts, Grand Dog Brutus Jax Milonakis, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his best friend Jim Bell.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Eugene & Doris Betts, sisters Theda O’Hara, Dolly Kopchak (Sam); brothers Ike, Bill, Ted & Brooks (Georgia) Betts, Baby Betts, and his four-legged companions Bailey & Rusty.
Growing up in the Zanesville area Larry loved his paper route as a young boy, loved cars, loved all sports and at the age of 18 he joined the United States Army & served in Korea as a MP. He loved serving his country.
After returning home from the military, he spent several years in the Grocery business in management for Big Bear & Tom Tarpy stores until he retired.
Watching The Buckeyes was his favorite way to spend fall/winter & The Reds was his favorite baseball team. When he wasn’t watching sports, he loved to watch The Price is Right, Let’s Make a Deal, Rifle Man, Bonanza, Gunsmoke & Andy Griffith. He enjoyed bowling and being on bowling leagues.
Traveling to Tennessee and where his daughter lives in California were two of his favorite places to visit. When his children were young, he enjoyed anything outdoors and loved trips to Kings Island with them.
Most of all he LOVED his Family & spending time with them whenever possible. He enjoyed his Facebook & Instagram accounts to stay in touch with his family & friends. He never turned down pizza & iced cold beer.
Larry fiercely fought cancer for 24 years and received the best care from The Ohio State James Cancer Hospital. He loved all that cared for him during his journey. The family is grateful for all the additional years he was able to share with them due to the excellent care he received. He never let Cancer hold him back, he kept a positive outlook and his sense of humor the whole time.
Visitation Will be held at Advantage Funeral by Schoedinger Friday Dec. 1 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm 5554 Karl Rd. Columbus, Ohio 43229
Funeral Service will occur Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10:00 am-11:00am at Advantage Funeral by Schoedinger.
Burial immediately following Kingwood Memorial, Lewis Center, Ohio.
