Daniel graduated from Northridge High School in 2009 and joined the United States Air Force following graduation. He was stationed in Tucson, Arizona, where he worked as a jet engine mechanic on the A-10 Thunderbolt planes. Daniel was on the fast track to staff sergeant when he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. While going through treatment for his cancer he studied and graduated from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business with a Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management in 2018. Post graduation, he helped manage his dad’s construction company and worked in real estate investing.
Daniel filled much of his time with hobbies, sharing them with his parents, brother, buddies, and wife. He loved racing mustangs, taking rides on his motorcycle, attending car shows, fishing, golfing, spending time in his garage working on cars with his brother, dad, and friends and working on home projects with his mom. In addition to his most beloved 1965 Pontiac LeMans, Daniel believed you could never have too many forms of transportation – cars, trucks, motorcycles, quads, RZRs, dirt bikes, and jet skis, just to name a few.
Daniel and his wife, Morgan, loved to travel. With a great appreciation for the national parks, together they visited 41 parks; his favorites being Acadia, Yellowstone, and Olympic National Parks. Whenever possible, their dog, Abigial was included in their family adventures. Daniel and Morgan regularly took trips out to Las Vegas to visit his in-laws which also included two other loves of Daniel’s, In-n-Out Burger and bonding with family over the blackjack table.
Daniel was an active member of the cancer support community, always ready to offer a shoulder to lean on and a helping hand to lift those fighting similar battles. He was involved in his local Adolescent Young Adult (AYA) cancer support group as well as First Descents, a group that organizes adventure trips for young adult cancer survivors. He took three adventure trips with First Descents, gaining friends and furthering his love of adventure.
Daniel will be remembered for many things, but especially his smile that would light up a room and his infectious laugh. He knew no stranger and was quick to make friends everywhere he went.
