Dana Martin Peters, age 69, of New Albany passed away peacefully at home with his faithful and loving wife Michele Gwinn at his side on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023. In addition to his parents, James and Miriam Peters, Dana was preceded in death by his brother Benjamin Peters. He is survived by his wife, Michel Gwinn, brothers James Peters (Michelle), Edward Peters, Joseph Peters, his mother-in-law Dorothy Milburn, sister-in-law, Karen Sheline (Rob), 7 nieces, 5 nephews, 4 great nieces, and 5 great nephews.
Dana graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1971 and went onto study philosophy at the University of Denver, where he where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1975. He graduated from Capital University Law School in 1986 with his juris doctor degree. Dana dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice as a career prosecutor starting with the city attorney’s office, the Franklin County Prosecutors office, and retired in 2015 as an Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office after 24 years of service.
He took pride in being the oldest brother of 5 boys and as the attorney of the family, he was the wise advisor for all his family members throughout the trials and tribulations of life. He never hesitated to help a colleague and took great honor in mentoring numerous interns and law students throughout his lifetime.
Dana lived his life by the principles of being ethical, legal, and moral. He was a man of few words and when he did speak, it was straight to the point. His message at the end his life was “have a wonderful life, thank you all for all you have done for me, and see you on the other side”.
