Our “Fish,” Carroll M. Fisher, peacefully passed away at age 94 on March 16, 2025 in Gahanna, Ohio. Carroll was an only child. He resided in Johnstown and the Columbus area, but work required travel throughout Ohio and nearby states. Carroll will be remembered for being detail-attentive, an amusing tale-teller, and a family man.
Carroll is survived by his wonderful wife (his words) of 13 years, Marilyn Grossman Fisher. Carroll and Marilyn shared a special bond of true love, fun, laughter, snow birding, card playing, and socializing. Carroll enjoyed every bit of his instant family thanks to Marilyn, including stepson Arthur William Grossman, Jr., stepdaughter Beth (Don) Davis, and grandchildren Kayla (Isaiah) Seidel and Bella Davis. Carroll generously shared golf and animal enthusiasm alongside his granddaughters and family. Other surviving and beloved family members include his cousins Will (Cindy) Goff.
Son of the late Honor J. and L. Marguerite Fisher, Carroll was preceded in passing by his first wife of 58 years, Joan Mauger Fisher. Joan was a travel agent and brought Carroll along to experience countless adventures from Morocco to Australia.
Carroll was a faithful Ohio State Buckeye Fan beginning in 1939. Go Bucks! A 12-letter winner in football, basketball, and baseball during his high school career, Carroll was a graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School in 1948 and Newark College of Commerce in 1949. He served during the Korean War in the Air Force from 1949-1953, reaching staff sergeant ranking. He worked for Kroger in management for 7 ½ years and then became a manufacturer’s representative in the plumbing industry for 32 years. He was a member of American Legion, Sertoma International, Riviera Country Club, and High Lands Golf Club. Carroll enjoyed playing golf for more than 60 years. He even played in an “Over 70” softball league through age 76.
Carroll will be deeply missed by all who loved him. That’s Carroll with two r’s and two l’s, and don’t you forget it!
Family and friends may gather at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home (1051 E Johnstown Rd) on Monday, March 24, from 11:30-1PM. Funeral Service will begin at 1PM. A private family interment will follow at Blendon Central Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or Faith Mission, two organizations close to Carroll’s heart.
