Carl Eugene Riley, 86, of Gahanna, passed away on April 26, 2022. He was born in Derby, Ohio on July 16, 1935 to Delton and Geneva (Harris) Riley. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother Donald L. Riley and sister Joan Herderick.
Carl will be remembered as a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served from 1953-1957. He was a damage controlman on the USS Midway CB4 during the Korean War. After serving his country, Carl returned home and married the love of his life, Margaret Riley. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion/VFW Post 4719. He was also in the Reception Unit of the Aladdin Shrine Temple.
Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of few words, but he loved deeply, worked hard, and one of his greatest attributes was his loyalty and kind heart. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Carl’s memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret I. Riley; son R. Michael (Fernando Rodriguez) Riley; daughters Carla (Ted) Carr and Rebecca (Michael Daniels) Arata; grandchildren Lauren (Michael) Seitz, Daniel (Janet) Carr, and Nathaniel Flowers; great-granddaughter Teagan Seitz; and many nieces and nephews.
