Robert Allen Neely, born March 18, 1950, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer on October 10, 2024. Bob was an avid woodworker and loved sports of all kinds. He proudly served in the US Army as a Green Beret. After being honorably discharged, Bob served 35 years with the Columbus Police Department. Bob was an active member at St. Matthew’s Parish and longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus. Anyone who knew Bob enjoyed his sense of humor, and his dad jokes were legendary.
Bob will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 30 years, Glenda; daughters Nicole (Matthew) Reither and Michelle (Brian) Dershaw; as well as by his four grandchildren, Courtney (Andy) Kirby, Haley (Price) Turner, Nate Dershaw, and Norah Dershaw. Bob also leaves behind two brothers, Bill (Rosie) Neely and Mike (Maryann) Neely. He was loved by many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Neely and his brother Chuck Neely.
Friends may gather on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Road, Gahanna, OH 43230, with visitation from 10:00am – 11:00am and a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am. A luncheon will take place at the church following the Mass.

The family would like to thank the Mt. Carmel Hospice team that cared for Bob at the end of his fight.
