Virginia Honea Diggs

Virginia Honea Diggs, age 84, of Gadsden, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Funeral service will be at Collier Butler Chapel on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2pm. Dr. Seth Hood will officiate with burial following at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.

Virginia attended Glencoe High School. She had grown up in East Gadsden Baptist Church and held fast to her Christianity. She had retired from Sears and later worked at Mommy and Me. Virginia had been attending a Bible Study led by Pat Bartlett and enjoyed the friends and fellowship she had there. Above all, Virginia loved her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were the center of her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband George H. Diggs, Jr., mother Lucille Honea, and grandparents Austin and Martilla Farmer.

Virginia is survived by her children Mike and Connie Diggs, Mitch Diggs, Mark and Angela Diggs, and Lorna East; grandchildren Amanda and Terry Weaver, Austin and Alissa Diggs, Kelley and Barry LaFollette, Richard Diggs, and Spencer and Hannah Diggs; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends John Morrison and Ella Rae Clark.

It was Virginia's request, in lieu of flowers memorials be made to St. Jude Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:15pm until two.
