Funeral service will be held at 12:30 Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Vernon H. Thomas, 83, of Gadsden who passed away August 11, 2010. Rev. Gary Munson will officiate with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing.
Vernon was a life long resident of Etowah County. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He was employed with the city of Gadsden for 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lyles Thomas; parents, Stant and Georgia Thomas and brothers and sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Diann Pruitt; grandchildren, Kristi Pruitt, Chad Pruitt; great-grandchildren Chase (Kietrice) Pruitt, Dawson Pruitt, Maddie Pruitt; step-great grandson, Amari Yarbrough; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 13, 2010 from 6pm until 8pm.
