Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Terry Lenn McWhorter, 68, of Glencoe, who passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015. Pastor Roger Graham will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. McWhorter was a 1966 graduate of Gadsden High School where he played Saxophone as a member of the band, and graduated from Auburn University in 1970, where he marched with the Auburn marching Band. After Auburn, Terry helped his father and brother in the family construction business in Gadsden until he recently retired. He was a lifelong member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Terry loved Auburn Football, fast cars, golf and he could fix anything. He was a big man with a big voice even though he tried to hide it, those who knew him knew he had a big heart. T-Mac will be very much missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.M. and Lurleen McWhorter; and brother, Donnie McWhorter.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Elling McWhorter; sons, David (Kim) McWhorter; and Eddie (Angelina) McWhorter; daughter, Valarie (Carol) McWhorter; grandchildren, Storm, Tyler, Claire, Marlie Grace, and Zack; sister-in-law, Susan McWhorter; nieces, Abby (Adam), Amanda (Curtis); and brother-in-law, Randy (Carol) Elling.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Etowah County Humane Society.
