Teresa Green Kitchens

Teresa Green Kitchens, age 63, of Gadsden, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Bro. Van Lockridge will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Teresa was a 1979 graduate of Gadsden High School and Jacksonville State University with a master’s degree in education. She worked in the Attalla School System for 27 years. She attended church at Edgewood Baptist Church and later attended Parkway Baptist Church. Teresa was a free spirt. She loved to spend her time at the knit shop with a special group of ladies. She liked to travel, read, and watch classic movies. She loved music and enjoyed going to concerts. Above all Teresa loved her family, especially her grandson who affectionally called her Yaya.

Teresa was preceded in death by her dad, Harold Lee Green; and special fur baby, Maggie.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Mack Kitchens, daughter, Cassie (Mark) Scruggs; grandson, Carter Scruggs; mother, Gracie Green; sister, Donna (Tim) Dail; nieces, Mylee (Bryce) Anderson and Mollie Dail; chosen grandson, Colby Hopper; special cousin, Diane Casey; and a host of extended family.

Pallbearers will be family.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Kinner Patel and Supriya Maheshwari at UAB; the staff at MCCU at UAB; Dr. James Robinson; and Dr. Josh Gautney at St. Vincent’s East.

The family will accept friends from 12:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Friday.
