Funeral Services will be at 11am Wednesday at First United Methodist Church Gadsden for Sara Slater Brown Dickson who passed away Monday, February 22, 2010. Rev. Roger K. Thompson and Rev. Elton Beasley will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.
Mrs. Dickson was born and raised in Gadsden and lived there most of her life. She attended Gadsden Public Schools and was graduated from the high school department of Virginia Intermont Junior College. She was a graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, SC.
She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and was a teacher and pianist in the Sunday School Department for many years and was active in the United Methodist Women.
She taught at Hokes Bluff Elementary School for 13 years and was active in community work.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Arthur Dickson, parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. Lucien Brown, sister, Allie Josephine Brown, and brothers, Dr. James M. Brown and Dr. Ansley G. Brown.
She is survived by daughters, Joan D. Leach (William O., Jr.) and Adele D. Cannon (Ronald), granddaughters, Sara Seay Leach Wilder (Todd), Joan Dickson Leach Hicks (Charlie), Allie Brown Cannon and grandson, William Dickson Leach (Nicole) and eight great grandchildren
The family wishes to thank Belinda Smith, Joanne Vaughn, April and Greg Easterwood and Lou Taylor for the loving care that they gave our mother.

Visitation will be on Wednesday at First United Methodist Church from 10 am to service time.
