Sam L Jones

Tuesday, August 23, 2011 Mr. Samuel L. Jones, 79, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral Services will be today at 11:00 a.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel with Bro. Rodger Collins officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.

Mr. Jones, along with all his brothers, served in the U S Armed Services. He was employed with Gadsden Water Works. He retired from Republic Steel after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Jones was an active member of the Walnut Park Baptist Church, served as Sunday School Teacher and Training Union Leader. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amzie Gosdin Jones, father, James Ned Jones, sisters, Lillian Jones Lee and Gladys Jones Ellis, brothers, Odell, Oren, James, Acton, Jack and Billy Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Barbara Sue Jones

Daughters; Judy (Mark) Frederick. Jill (Gary) Pruett and Janice (Jeff) Wagnon

Grandchildren; Samuel (Jenny) Frederick, Brad (Misty) Pruett, Barbara (Jacob) Dye, Megan and Wesley Hayes and honorary grandson, Cameron Stanley

Great grandchildren; Susannah and Samantha Frederick, Aiden, Gracie and Kaylie Dye and Kagen Wagnon

Sisters; Anne Hutchins and Lou Havens

Brothers; Joe and Fred (Jeanette) Jones

A host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends this morning from 9 am until the hour of service at the funeral home
