Ruth C. Whatley

Graveside services will be at Edgemont Cemetery in Anniston, AL on Thursday March 22, 2012 at 1:00 for Mrs. Ruth C. Whatley, 80 of Gadsden, who passed away March 19, 2012, Rev. Ron Downey will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home & Cremation Services is directing.

Mrs. Whatley was a native of Calhoun County and a longtime resident of Etowah County. She was a member of James Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from the Etowah County School system as a Para Professional and a Bus Driver. She was also an avid Alabama and Atlanta Braves fan.

Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ethel Craig; Son, David Craig Whatley and son-in-law Carey Newton.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Morris Whatley; Son: Stanley (Diane) Whatley, Washington D.C.; Daughters: Sharon (Glenn) Hughes, Ft. Payne and Sherie Newton, Glencoe; Grandchildren: Matthew (Brandee) Hughes, Summer (Mike) Robertson, Tyler (Ashley) Hughes, Stephanie Oldham and Andrew Oldham; Great Grandchildren: Grady and Luke Robertson, Conner and Kyndal Hughes, Aubrey - Kate Lambert. Special friend: Juanita Moore, Gadsden.

Visitation will be Thursday 11:00a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home
