Raymond L. Brown

Funeral service will be at 2:00 Friday at Collier-Butler Chapel with burial at Rainbow Memorial Gardens for Raymond L. Brown, 84, Rainbow City, who went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Anniston Noland Hospital. The Rev. Bud Swindall will officiate along with Rev. Gary Webb with burial at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Brown was born March 21, 1928. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Raymond served 18 months in the U.S. Army. He worked for Whiting Corporation in Attalla, now named TrimBeam for 37 years and retired from there.

He enjoyed going to the mountains with his wife, sister and brother-in-law. He was a very giving person and was called a caregiver to those that knew him. He would not tell anyone NO, and was always willing to help anyone. He loved to play guitar with his brother-in-law J.T. Willoughby and sing songs with his friends. Everyone that knew Raymond knows of his gentle kind words and reading of the Bible. He loved to share The Word with everyone. He was a long time member of the Siberton Baptist Church.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 61 years whom he loved dearly, ClaraMae (Seahorn) Brown; daughter Brenda (Mike) Sauls of Hokes Bluff; son Donald (Gail) Brown of Gadsden daughter, Carolyn(Randy) Cox of Rainbow City; Son Larry Brown of Texas; daughter Teresa (David) Sherman of Southside; sister Christine(JT) Willoughby of Georgia; and Earline Jenkins of Gadsden. He had 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Minnie Brown, His brother, James Brown of Rainbow City; Brother Eugene Brown of Texas; sister, Nettie Jo McCormick of Gadsden.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Siberton Baptist Church and New Haven Church of God for all their prayers and encouraging words and for everyone who came to visit with the family. We would like to send a thank you to all the nurses and staff at DaVita Dialysis, Riverview Regional Hospital and Noland Anniston Hospital.

Pallbearers will be family.

Daddy, we know you are happy in Heaven now but, we will meet you there some glad day.

He will also be missed by his loving companion Isabelle (his wired haired terrier) whom he called Poochie. She loved sitting with him to keep him company.

Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel.
