Mr. Ray Donaldson, 86, of Gadsden passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. The Rev. Darrell Brown will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Ray was born November 2, 1932 in Hayleyville, AL. He was a retired Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. Mr. Donaldson was also a business owner of Jack’s Garage for over 50 years.
Ray “Granddaddy” was known for his infectious smile, kind, compassionate spirit and his devotion to his faith and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Bessie Donaldson; brother, Wilton Donaldson; daughter, Linda D. Stewart and wife, Kathleen Donaldson.
Survivors include his sisters, Barbara Hendrix and Delene Posey; daughters, Tammy D. Boatfield and Leesa (Marc) Paige; grandchildren, Kimberli (Darnell) McClure; Josh (Katie) Stewart and Cassie (Wes) Nail; great grandchildren, Shaleigh; Rilee; Grayson; Austin; Lucas; Eva and Cooper; chosen family, Kerry and Amanda Minyard, Lexi; Linzie; Zac and Sonya and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Josh Stewart; Darnell McClure; Wes Nail; Kerry Minyard; Zac Satterfield and Joe White.
Honorary Pallbearers are great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home Tuesday.
