Randy retired from Goodyear after almost 40 years of service. Since retirement he has enjoyed hunting and fishing, planting his garden and especially spending time with his family and his constant companion, dog, Lacey. Randy was bigger than life, with a loud booming voice and contagious laugh. He was a generous, giving, and loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. He was a member of the Twelfth Street Baptist Church, Chairman of the Southside Water Board, and former member of the Southside City Council. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard and the US Naval Reserve. Randy was preceded in death by his parents: John and Doris Scott; brother: Devon Scott; and daughter, Kari Swann Davidson.

Randy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Owens Scott; children: Miranda Scott (Clint) Brannon, Kelli Swann (Shelton) McElroy, Taylor Scott (Melissa) Morgan; grandchildren: Corey and Carlie Connett, Jacob and Lucas Dowdy, Joshua Brannon, and Sloan Morgan. Brother: Ray “Peanut” Scott and sister-in-law: Deborah. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Gail Owens and Bill McCormick. Mother-in-law: Vera Stephens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center Research Center, 1802 6th Avenue South North Pavilion 2500, Birmingham, AL 35294-3300 or the Etowah County Humane Society.

The family will accept friends for visitation today from 12:00-2:00pm at the funeral home.
