He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Homer Watts, mother Virginia Humphries, and sister Sherry Gatlin.
Doug was a loving life companion to Linda Buzbee and father to daughter Sally Martino (David) and son Craig Watts (Tammy). He is also survived by his brother Charlie Watts (Phyllis); grandchildren Abigail Watts (Matt), Andrew Martino (Marsha), Adam Martino, PJ McKenzie Watts, 3 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.
Doug had a passion for outdoor sports, particularly golfing. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, watching sports and old Westerns on TV.
After graduating from Etowah High School, Doug furthered his education at Jacksonville State. Having served in the Army for 22 years, Doug had a distinguished military career retiring as a Master Sergeant. He proudly associated himself with the Army.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 3, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at The Links at Briarmeade in honor of Doug's memory.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Lung Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
