Patricia "Patsy" Bagley Owens

Funeral services for Patsy Owens, age 78, will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Collier Butler Funeral Home with Jeremy Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 - 2:00 pm.

Mrs. Owens passed away surrounded by family at Shepherd’s Cove in Albertville, Alabama.

She is survived by her son Van Owens (Teri); grandchildren Jay, Valerie and Jett Owens; sisters Betty Davis and Carla Alley; nephew Greg Holland (Gina); great-nephews Taylor Holland (Katie W.) and Corbin Holland (Katie G.) and families.

Patsy was born in Gadsden, Alabama on September 12, 1946. She was the daughter of James and Myrion Bagley. She was a 1964 graduate of Emma Sansom High School where she enjoyed her time as a majorette in the band. She worked several years as a secretary and then went to Jacksonville State University and obtained her master’s degree in science secondary education. She loved her years teaching at Gaston High School (1992-2010) and had many fond memories of the students and faculty there. Patsy was a member of Ivalee Baptist Church. She was known to be a prayer warrior among family and friends and her relationship with Christ was evident by the love she showed others. Her hobbies included jewelry making and spending time with family (especially her three grandchildren!).

Pallbearers will be Jay Owens, Jett Owens, Greg Holland, Taylor Holland, Corbin Holland, and Jason Gibbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Johnston, Jerry Moore, and Trey Faulkner.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, Albertville, AL.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Jason Ayres, the doctors and nurses in the oncology unit at UAB hospital and the Kirklin Clinic, CenterWell Home Health, Compassionate Comforters of Glencoe, and Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
