Nell spent her life caring for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone that came through her door. Her kitchen was never without the smell of her delicious cooking and her table was never empty.
At 4’11”, she was lovingly referred to as “Lil’ Bitty Woman” by her husband, Buddy, a name that stuck with her all of her life.
She loved sitting on the porch with her family and the conversations they shared. Her green thumb was displayed in her beautiful gardens, and her love of travel carried her to many beautiful places.
Nell lived in Etowah County all of her life. She worked as a cashier at Keller’s Groceries and Food World for over 30 years. She was a member at First Baptist Church of Southside and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Claude F. “Buddy” Dunn, her parents, Dallas and Mary Etta Parker, and her sister, Elizabeth Mayo.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Bearden, Ginger (Romeo) Hachez, Darrell (Danette) Dunn, Denise (Phillip) Higginbotham, and Denita Dunn Kellett; grandchildren: Kristie (Jody) Roper, Justin Bearden, Tinya (Allen) Lee, Dallas (Danna) Dunn, Morgan (Derrick) Means, Erica Higginbotham, Corey Kellett, Caitlyn Kellett, Blain Kellett, and many more great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as her brother, Clyde (Dot) Parker, and sisters, Jane Brothers and Phyllis Barnes.
Pallbearers will be Justin Bearden, Corey Kellett, Blain Kellett, Erica Higginbotham, Derrick Means, and Allen Lee.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Gadsden Healthcare, her sweet roommate there, Ms. Robbie Byers, and Barbie Demedicis of Pro Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
