Funeral services will be Friday, October 9th, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., at Collier-Butler Chapel for Matthew D. Mullinax “Mully”, 34, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, October 5th, 2020. Pastor Blake Jones will officiate. Interment will follow services on Friday at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.
Matthew attended John Jones Elementary, Rainbow Middle School, graduated from Southside High School in 2005, and is a member of Rainbow Church of Christ. He played all sports throughout his educational path, but baseball and basketball were always his favorites. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army, faithfully serving his country for four years. Matthew’s passion in life was music, having self-taught himself on the guitar, he would always be known as a well-established guitar player. He started out with his inspiration from rap music but branched out to other forms of art as well, including drawing and painting more recently, which he became very talented at. Matthew also enjoyed traveling any chance that he could and would have liked to have done more. He loved his family more than anything, especially his mother, he will be greatly missed by all of them.
Preceding him in death is his father, Michael D. Mullinax; and cousin, Kourtney Brianne Evans.
Survivors include his mother, Susan Mullinax; sisters, Mandy Jaggers, Southside, and Brandy Mullinax, Texas; special aunt and uncle, Susan and Wayne Gardner, Mobile, AL; nephew, Grayson Jaggers, Glencoe; niece, Jayln Foster, Riddles Bend; and several cousins, including Greg and Holly Gardner, Mobile, and Kevin Evans, Gadsden; and many other friends and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Paul Roberts, Colorado, Chad Dixon, Southside, Matt Smith, Southside, David Stevens, Southside, Brandon Winston, Gadsden, and Josh Reynolds, Southside.
The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
