Mary Ellen Thacker

Mary Ellen Thacker, 73, of Gadsden, AL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 3, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. Larry Perkins and Paul Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery in Gadsden. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary attended both General Forrest High school and Emma Sansom. She was a member of Church of God in Walnut Park. She loved to carve wood, draw, and cross stitch. Mary loved all animals from cats to dogs from raccoons to opossums. She also loved flowers and gardening.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Riley Dobbs Sr.; sister, Karen Dobbs; spouse, Thomas Thacker; and daughter-in-law, Barbie Thacker.

She is survived by sons. Terry (Christy) Thacker and Thomas Thacker; grandchildren, Greg, Bubba, Daniel, Dalton, and Anna Thacker; brothers, Tim Dobbs, Riley (Lisa Dobbs), and David (Sonya) Dobbs; and sister, Linda Perkins.

Pallbearers will be Johnny smith, Jared Dobbs, Johnny Ray, and Phillip Perkins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Thacker and Phillip Dobbs.

Memorials can be made to the Etowah County Humane Society.

The family wish to express a special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Nurses and Doctors at Riverview Hospital, and Linda and Rachel Perkins.

The family will accept friends on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00PM.
