Marvin D. McRae

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at St. James Catholic Church of Mr. Marvin D. McRae, 84, Southside who passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Father Gray Bean will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

Mr. McRae was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He served our country in the armed forces from 1948 to 1953 in the Navy and Air Force. Mr. McRae retired as a supervisor from Republic Steel with 32 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and honorary member of Briarmeade Golf Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hattie McRae, granddaughter, Mandi Jenkins and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Cashio McRae, children, Anthony (Tammy) McRae, Mark (Tammy) McRae, Barbie (Macky) Jenkins and Jeff (Lori) McRae, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
