Mark Wade Walden, 65, of Glencoe, AL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Funeral Services will be at 11:30 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Collier-Butler Chapel with Rev. Rodney Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Mark was born March 23, 1956 to Don and Marlene Walden, who both preceded him in death, as well as, his grandparents, Vera and Jack Cofield and Sam and Sallie Walden.
He was a graduate of Glencoe High School Class of 1974 and was on the State Championship Football Team of 1973. He was a 1992 graduate of Jacksonville State University where he earned his B S Degree in Social Work.
Mark enjoyed the outdoors, maintaining his lawn and was an avid Alabama Football Fan.
He was a loving Christian man and attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church. He had participated in mission work in India in previous years.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 28 years, Becky Walden; brothers, Lee Walden and wife Lori and Steven Bollinger and wife Jennifer; aunt Dot Walden; uncle, Larry Cofield; brother-in-law, Charles R. Cheatwood; nephews, Matthew Walden; Travis Walden; David Archer; John (Corey) Cheatwood and Lawson Bollinger; nieces, Rebekah Washburn; Wendy (Phillip) Jones and Kaylee Bollinger and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be, Ben Marble; Phillip Jones; Matthew Walden; David Archer; David Dempsey and John Cheatwood.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association @ACT.ALZ.org in memory of Mark.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Debora Reiland and Staff; Dr. Asif Kalleem and Staff; MMC Home Care and The Harbor at Legacy Village, Jacksonville.
Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the hour of service.
Casual attire is acceptable for those in attendance.
