Margaret "Sis" Kitchens Starling

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret “Sis” Kitchens Starling, age 78 of Rainbow City, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Bro. Lauil Thompson will officiate with burial to follow at Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.

Mrs. Starling passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016.

Sis was a graduate of Gadsden High School. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a devout Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. 1st Class Larry Dale Starling; father, D.L. Kitchens; mother, Josephine Kirkland; sister, Betty Kitchens; and brothers, Charles Kitchens and Winford Kitchens.

Sis is survived by her children, Dwayne Hallmark (Melinda), Sgt. 1st Class Retired Tony Starling (Silvia), Janet Hallmark, John Starling, Melissa Hallmark, and Tammy Starling Allred (Jeff); eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Deby Kitchens Hooks; uncle, Joe Kitchens; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Hallmark, Jr., Jeremi Peebles, Nick Fuqua, Christopher Starling, Jordan Bittle, and Landon Cain.

A special thank you is extended by the family to Southern Care Hospice – Rebecca, Jamie and Patsy; Ultra Physical Therapy – Mike and Roxanna; and Rainbow City Fire Department.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
