Funeral services will be at 12:30 Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mara Lynn Robinson, age 80, who passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mara Lynn Robinson was born March 20, 1935 in Lathamville, AL to James Clyde and Nettie Lee Davis. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis Robinson. She is survived by sister Ruth Ellen Glasscock of Jackson, TN, brother T.K. Davis (June) of Crossville, AL, daughter Connie Lynn O’Dell (Michael) of Cedar Key, FL, son Robert Keith Robinson (Kimberly) of Huntsville, AL, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Robinson was a life-long resident of Gadsden where she was a devoted wife, mother, home maker and grandmother. She and her husband were charter members of the Scenic Highland Swim Club and were very supportive of their children as they participated in the community’s numerous youth programs. She enjoyed a career in Gadsden’s legal community where she worked several years as a secretary for the law office of J. Richard Carr, and later for Curtis Wright.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She enjoyed history, reading, Elvis, the British comedies, Downton Abbey, Ken Burns documentaries on Public Television, and The Big Bang Theory. Most of all, she found great joy in the beauty of nature in her special corner of the world. She will be most remembered by her friends and family for her sweet, gentle and kind spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages random acts of kindness in her honor, or donating to organizations that provide help to senior citizens that desire to remain in their homes.
The family will receive friends from 10:30am-12:30pm prior to the service.
