Mr. Lynn Berry Jones, 65, passed away on January 18, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 2pm, Monday, January 21, 2019, at Collier-Butler Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm on the day of the funeral. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.
Mr. Jones was a native of Gadsden. He graduated from Gadsden High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Alabama. He was retired as machinist for General Dynamics. Mr. Jones was an accomplished artist and lover of obscure classic rock. He had a quiet, subtle sense of humor and a way of making everyone around him feel interesting and appreciated. He was an adoring husband to wife Luane, who he had loved since he was in junior high. He was a devoted and ever-present step-father and, in the last eight years of his life, reveled in his new duties as “Pa-Paw” to his four grandchildren.
Mr. Jones is survived by his beloved wife, Luane Smith Jones of Rainbow City; his step-daughters, Elizabeth Parr Hecker (Scott) of Washington, D.C. and Joan Parr Tucker of Gadsden; grandchildren Gwyn Tucker, Julian Tucker, Lauren Hecker, and Katherine Hecker; his sister Judy Jones (Phoenix, AZ); niece Beth Bresnahan (Phoenix, AZ); nephew Jody Hamby (Nashville, TN); cousins Donna Payne (Gadsden) and Jim Bogue (Rome, GA). He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Elizabeth Jones, and brother Randy Jones.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hecker, Clay Tucker, Corey Moseley, Houston Whisenant, Johnny Williams, and Stan Daily. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Casson, Tom Edgar, Paul Forsman, Cindy Forsman, Chris Heard, Mickey Rankin, Jeff Williams, and Paul and Ginger Woodard.
He will be buried at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
