Lucille Carter, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, October 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev Bobby Joe Winningham and Rev. Rodney Prickett will officiate. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband: Carl E. Carter, Sr., parents: Claude and Lois Bonds, and sisters: Ella, Della, Mary Sue, and Charlsi Carolyn Bonds.
She is survived by her son: Carl E. (Juanice) Carter Jr.; granddaughters: Kristy (Tim) Womack, Gadsden, Charity (Mike) Williams, Anniston, Melody (Andy) Caudle, Rainbow City; great-grandsons: Darrien Caudle and Caleb Womack; sisters: Jewel Lamb, and Norma (Charles) Channell, both of Zellwood, FL; special sister-in-law: Elizabeth Carter, Rainbow City; special cousin: Jo Driskell, Southside; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Carter was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved working in her garden alongside her husband, painting, and crocheting. She served many years as VBS director at church and enjoyed being a part of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Carter, Tim Carter, Jack Carter, Gene Carter, Kenneth Payne and Dennis Bone.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Carter and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Riddles Bend Baptist Church Building Fund, 5574 Riddles Bend Road, Rainbow City, AL 35906.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Debora Reiland, Dr. Rowe, the staff of Alacare Home Health and Hospice, especially Karen H., and Karen P., Kristi, Suzanne, Lyndsi, and Lori H.; caregivers, Eloise, Wanda, and Glenda, and for everyone who offered their thoughts, prayers, and expressions of concern during her illness. Special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Juanice, and granddaughter Melody, who spent countless hours and sacrifice to care for “Maw Maw”. We will miss you and love you.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
