Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Louie Daniel Watts, Sr., 73, who went to Heaven December 4, 2014. Pastor Nathan Glenn, Rev’s. Les Overstreet, David Abernathy will officiate.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lizzie and Roy Watts; siblings, Lester, Rufus, “Dimp”, Curtis, Wilma, Sarah; granddaughter, Johnna.
Survivors are Kathleen, wife of 57 years; daughter, Susan (Greg) Burdine; sons, Danny (Mary), Paul, Neil, Andy; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tracy (Kelley), Cameron, Colton, Chandler, Tyler, Vayda, Jonathan, Josh, Dylan, Ethan, Chad (Tracy), Robbie, Gabriel, Corey (Hannah), Alexx, Brittany, Caleb, Isaac, Sarah; chosen grands and greats, Brandon (Becky) and Noel, Stephanie (Wes) and Nora, Kari, Kalyn, Lexi, Marshall, Jonathan, Adelina; chosen brother, “Red” Messer; 5 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; aunt, Mary Shipman, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
Mr. Watts co-owned/operated Watts Battery Shop over forty years. He coached Little League and Pony League baseball teams, sharing his pitching skills with many young boys. He loved bowling, and shared those skills also, and was a member of the Etowah County Bowling Hall of Fame. He pitched horseshoes, winning many local and state tournaments. As a child, he was a member of Gadsden’s first Little League team to win a state championship. He was a member of Noccalula Church of God. Louie loved greatly and was greatly loved. Since making things right with the Lord, his desire was for all his family and friends to give their hearts to Jesus so they could all reunite in Heaven.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are John Freeman, Bodie Freeman, Diane and Dyer Honeycutt, Howard Talton, Renee and David Abernathy, George Thompson, Terry Galliher, Janice and “Red” Messer, and Alacare Hospice Caregivers.
Visitation will begin Sunday 12:30. Burial will be at McCauley’s Chapel Cemetery.
