Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Lois Jeanette Duncan, 86, Attalla, who passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016. The Rev. Carl Wisener will officiate. Burial will be at Duck Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.Mrs. Duncan was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Cullman. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. After years of serving her family as homemaker and raising children, she returned to college and earned a degree in nursing. She worked as a floor nurse at Gadsden Regional Medical Center for a time and then worked as a home health-care nurse until retirement. She loved the Lord, and singing old gospel hymns as a faithful member of Duck Creek Missionary Baptist Church of Fairview, near where she was born and lived as a child.Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Albert E. "Gene" Duncan; brothers, Ernest Chambers, Edward Chambers and James Willard Chambers; sister, Mavis Cox; parents, Walter C. and Vertie V. Mitchell Chambers.She is survived by her children, Susan (Perry) Bankston, Jackie Duncan, Mitchell (Sharon) Duncan; grandchildren and spouses, Nathan (Kim), Kelly (Dusty), Amanda (Ryan), Rachel (Wesley), Rufus (Angie), Jenny (Travis), Rejana, Alyssa (Derek), Haley (Justin), and Clay; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brianna, Silas, Asa, Blake, Cruz, Taylor, Lauren, Maggie Gene, Shelby, Grayson, Asher, Eden, and Jonah; and sister, Barbara Norton.Pallbearers will be Nathan Cox, Dusty Sherrell, Wesley Young, Clay Duncan, Travis Lee, Rufus Bankston, Justin Self and Derek Broadhead.Special thanks to Claudia Moore and the caring staff of Peace in the Valley Health Care for the loving care she received."Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
