She was the wife of the late Honorable Julius S. Swann Jr.
Born Aug. 4, 1948, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Posey Cox and Neal Hobert Posey.
Linda graduated as valedictorian in 1966 from Lawrence County High School in Moulton. She continued her studies at the University of Alabama, where she was an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Alabama. She was a respected professional in the field of economic development for the state of Alabama. During her career, she served at the Gadsden-Etowah County Industrial Development Authority, Alabama Power Company and the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama. She founded a consulting firm, Economic Development Services and Strategies. Among her many leadership roles, she served as President and Honorary Life Member of the Southern Economic Development Council. In the latter years of her career, she served in several prominent roles, including Director for the Alabama Development Office under Governor Bob Riley. She retired from her career as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for the Alabama Department of Commerce in July 2014.
Linda is survived by her two children and their families, Gene and Kelly Warren of Mobile, and Marcia and Scott Nally of Marietta, Georgia. She has four grandchildren: Sarah Frances and Faulkner Warren of Mobile and Jackson and Marianne Nally of Marietta. She is also survived by her siblings: Carolyn and Randy Jacobs of Hartselle, Neal Posey of Atlanta, Jeffrey Posey of Danville; and her many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Linda's life will take place Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, 156 South 9th Street, Gadsden.
Visitation will take place at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Forrest Cemetery, 700 South 15th Street, Gadsden.
Friends and family are invited to a reception at the church following the graveside service.
