Laverne E. Latham

Laverne Estes Latham, 86, of Southside, passed away on November 9, 2012. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 2:00 at Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be at Southside Cemetery. Rev. Robert Thornton will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie J. Latham after 64 ½ years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Bell Estes and her sister, Lorene Vinson.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for the delicious and beautiful cakes she baked. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children: Patricia Latham Williams, Johnny Latham Jr., and Connie (Tommy) Sewell; grandchildren: Chere (John) Wood, Michelle (Todd Harpo) Joseph, Daniel Sewell, Nathan (Amber) Sewell and Lydia Sewell; and great-grandchildren; Nicholas Wood and Isabella Wood.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Sewell, Nathan Sewell, Tommy Sewell, Albert Davis, Bill Drummons and Larry Watson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Wood and Wendell Price.

The family would like to express their thanks to the 800 Hall of Gadsden Health and Rehab.

Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 3975 Hwy 77, Southside, AL 35907.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service.
