Kenneth was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and a 1961 graduate of Etowah High School.
He served 10 years with the Air National Guard, 225th ANG and retired from Goodyear after almost 30 years of employment. Kenneth coached several years with Farm League baseball.
He thoroughly enjoyed playing softball with the Fairview Baptist in the Church Softball League, and also the 55 and over City Softball League.
He served as a volunteer at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, with MANA, and various organizations throughout Etowah County. He was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church and served there as a deacon. He enjoyed his coffee black, riding his Harley, Alabama Football, and was a proud American.
To know Kenneth was to love him, he will be missed by many.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Betty Jacklyn Reed Mayo; parents, William Autice Mayo Sr. and Gladys Sauls Mayo; brother, William Autice Mayo, Jr.;
and step-daughter, Lisa Blackwell.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Annette Blackwell Mayo; sons, Kenneth Sauls Mayo, Jack Reed (Cheryl Cannon) Mayo; and Jacob Zachary (Jennifer Grant) Mayo; grandchildren, Mallory (Eben) Leeman, Zack Mayo, Hailey Mayo, Anna Mayo, and Jackson Mayo; step-grandchildren, Brittany Watts and Caleb Watts; sister, Mary Frances Gilchrist; nephew, Bill (Rhonda Cannon) Mayo; and nieces Jennifer A. Mayo, and Dana Doughty (Nathaniel, Sr.) Scelzi; sisters-in-law, Carrie Lee Chambers and Julie (Jeff) Holman; step-children, Lenny (Melissa) Blackwell and Brent Blackwell;
step-grandchildren, Lee Smith, Drew Blackwell, Brandley Anders, Megan (Blake) Boozer, Bevin (Logan) Payne, and Kaden Blackwell; great-step-grandchildren, Hudson Hill, Brylee Payne, Emey Payne,
and Rubie Anders.
Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class and fellow church members at Fairview Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Gadsden Regional Medical Center medical staff
and AMED.
