Kenneth B. Freeman, beloved husband, father, and Grandad passed away on December 16, 2014 at the age of 82. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 20 at 11:00 am at James Memorial Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and was a member for more than 50 years.
Kenneth was a believer in Jesus Christ, and knowing that they will one day be reunited with him is a great comfort to his family and friends.
Kenneth proudly served as a military policeman during the Korean War. He worked at Goodyear for many years before retiring in 1989. He enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janie; son, Stan (Cindy) Freeman; son Barry (Melanie) Freeman; daughter, Jan Freeman; grandchildren, Michael (Chasta) Freeman, Josh Freeman, Mark (Meredith) McClendon, Seth Choron, Ethan Choron; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Freeman, Jaxon Freeman, Shyanne Freeman, Maela Freeman, and James McClendon; brothers, Robert (Betty) Freeman and James (Betty) Freeman; sisters, Billie (Chubby) Brisendine and Elouise (Othell) Patterson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
The family will receive friends at James Memorial from 10:00 to 11:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00. Former pastor, Dr. Bill Abbott is officiating, and special family friend, Marjorie Hall will play the organ. The burial will be held at Walker Chapel Cemetery in Fort Payne.
