Joseph Michael Mackey, age 76 of Gadsden, AL passed away on Thursday July 4th, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 16th 2024 at 7:00pm at Collier Butler Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Davis will officiate with speaker Chris Strott. Visitation will precede the service from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Mackey was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School class of 1966. Joe was a Master electrician for IBEW 136. He found joy in hunting, playing golf and Alabama football. The amount of love Joe had for his high school sweetheart, Kay, was an example of true love. He loved his twin daughters, Gina and Jana more than words can describe. Joe was the happiest when supporting each of his grandchildren in all that they do. His great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He showed his faith and love for Jesus Christ everyday, and now he is at Peace with his Heavenly Father. He will stay in our hearts forever.
Joe is Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Sula Hill Mackey. Brothers Larry Mackey and Bev Mackey. And his beloved mother and father in law, Harold and Rubye Whitten.
He is survived by his wife, the love of his life of 58 years, Kay Whitten Mackey; his pride and joy twin daughters, Gina and Jana; his grandchildren, the lights of his life: Zane (Samantha), Dylan (Chris), Braydon (Holly), Alex (Ashley), and Katlyn (Landon); his great-grandchildren: Bronx, Brady, Elliana, Hallie, Mary-Lou, Keegan, Asher, Zane, and Joseph (expected in October 2024), whom he could not wait to meet; Chosen sons Patrick Hawk and John Sullivan; And his chosen Brother for life Brent Thomas
Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his friends.

The family would like to thank Etowah Chemical, Jerry's Pharmacy (Mike), Dr. Hunt and staff, Kirklin Clinic Medical team, Prohealth Hospice (Holly, Jade, and Chris), Jannette and Freddy, Margaret Dean, Neighbor Bobby Townsel, Rodney and Cammie Cunningham, and for all the prayers the family has received.
